Perfect for a romantic getaway! Such a secluded and cosy little cottage. We enjoyed dinner and a glass of wine in front of the wood fire and the toot of the Walhalla rail train below in the mornings. Anna provided very clear instructions prior to our stay which made things very easy when we arrived. It’s back to basics with this little cottage but it has everything you need to enjoy a weekend away and it’s only a 15 minute stroll into town to explore the history and beauty of Walhalla.
Things we did: we spent our time reading about the history of the town and enjoyed the train ride and mine tour. There isn’t alot of options for eating out (only one pub and one cafe open when we were there) but would recommend the pub for dinner. My favourite part of the trip was climbing up to various vantage points above town, including the tramway and cricket ground track. Also enjoyed a beautiful sunset at Petersons lookout (about 30 min drive). We did the Poverty Point bridge hike from Thompson’s station (8km round trip) which was a highlight.
