We absolutely loved the cottage and hope to stay again soon. Good on you for restoring it and looking after it.  The location in the bush above town near the train station is great. Everything was very clean and comfortable and we’re looking forward to staying again soon. Walhalla is a beautiful little village and well worth staying a few nights.

Absolutely charming. Our two nights in Stringer’s Cottage made us want more – we will return! Not for those who want spas and dishwashers, this is an endearing, down-to-earth, beautifully presented little haven, with all the practical tools & implements required for living here. Good (small) kitchen, comfy bed, interesting collection of books, games, pictures, and a wonderful fireplace ( firewood, kindling ,axe, newspaper, firelighters, matches…!). Easy to walk into Walhalla, a unique & fascinating place. Loved it.

As we have just had an amazing couple of nights at the cottage we just wanted to thank you personally. It really is a great cottage and exceptionally clean. The real fire is a great touch to go to sleep too. Convinced there must be a ghost as the egg cup completely vanished on day 2!
We have done 5 trips down under and after the Opera House and Sydney Bridge climb this is easily the 3rd best thing to do in Aussie, a couple of nights in your cottage!
If only all cottage rentals were like this….

A rustic cottage in a lovely bush setting close to the centre of Walhalla. Stringer’s cottage had everything we needed for a lovely weekend stay. We loved hearing the “toot” of the old train coming past during the day.

“The Coach House and Stringer’s cottage are remarkable. They reflect the heritage of town, yet are comfortable and well-provisioned. Extra touches, like wood for the fire, made the stay a first-rate experience.”

Had such a lovely weekend hidden away at stringers cottage. The cottage was well stocked with supplies such as tea/coffee, fire wood and plenty of books to whittle the day/night away. With minimal electrical outputs and no television it felt like the perfect place to escape the bustle of the city. Anna was a great host who was easy to message and answered all our questions. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone looking for a secluded bush getaway.

A fantastic spot for a weekend away from the hustle a bustle of Melbourne. A very easy 2 hour drive from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The cottage is absolutely stunning and is worth every penny! A perfect location with an easy walk into the historic town of Walhalla. Will be back!

Such a beautiful and scenic little cottage! We had such a relaxing and cosy getaway at Stringers. Very well maintained with all necessities provided for a relaxing getaway. Stunning location with picturesque views of the surrounding forests. Very close walking distance to historic landmarks and other attractions such as the train and gold mine. Local pub has an excellent (but limited) menu and is also a short walk away. Stringer’s Cottage is an absolutely unforgettable stay in a gorgeous location that you will not regret.

We had a fabulous long weekend Feb 2017. We enjoyed a great time in Walhalla, bush walking and enjoying the historical olde town. Beautiful weather as well. Our cottage had everything we needed and was quaint beyond belief. The best thing was it didn’t have what we didn’t need. Perfect. We are a retired couple, retired from work but not from life. We loved Stingers cottage – very small, very romantic, very nice! Thanks Anna
