We stayed at Stringers Cottage in July 2015. The scenery in the quaint old gold mining town of Walhalla is absolutely stunning. The cottage itself is beautiful and has everything you need for a lovely weekend. We arrived at 10pm after a long journey (if coming from Melbourne head through Moe and Erica – not Traralgon like we did!) and Anna’s advice of having a torch was great as it was pitch dark and there’s a few steps you need to go down. Anna’s instructions (make sure your print them off) were spot on and made our entry to the cottage nice and easy. It was chilly but once we got the log fire going and put the hot water bottles on we were quite toasty. There’s also a car stereo/cd player built Into the bookshelf (filled with books and games), and some lovely relaxing CD’s to go with it. We listened to John Lee Hooker whilst drinking some red wine – amazing! Nearby you can visit Mt Baw Baw (hire snow chains from Erica for $25 then drive through South Face Road to the top, only 40mins from Walhalla and magical scenery). Watch out for the $47 park entrance though! The cottage is very quaint and overlooks the old railway. Within 10mins walk you can be at the Wally Pub and the General Store – so it’s a brilliant location. ”
